2016 Niwot Trot 5k Recap
Sunday morning’s perfect Colorado blue sky day brought runners and walkers out in force! There were plenty of new changes abound, and the anticipation was palpable. We reached a new registration record, topping out at 394 participants. Whistle Stop Park was buzzing with energy as the post race party started to rev up after some fierce competition among the front runners. They’ve set the new course records for all to chase in years to come (or to defend!). Kuddos to our blazing fast top overall elementary finishers and the top finishers in each grade (excluding overalls) who also crushed it!
The finish line was a hopping place as many families finished strong together, enjoying a healthy way to start the day. The new flat, fast course winding through downtown Niwot reminded us of the incredible community we all share. Cougar pride was all around as racers cheered each other to the finish line. The Trot race directors would like to recognize all of our local sponsors, without whom we wouldn’t be able to bring this event to life. From t-shirt design to rock star awards, refreshments to financial assistance, please join us in thanking them for investing in the health and strength of the NES community. We’d additionally like to thank the volunteers, Mrs. Pitz, and the PTAC board for their invaluable support.
We’ll see you in fall of 2017 for an even better, refined version of the new Niwot Trot!
